And Back Again

Propeller Plane

I'm back! And I think (hope!) the interview went well. I'll know in about a month.

I got back on very small plane.

Sheridan from above

There were 30 seats, so it wasn't the tiniest in the world, but there were four passengers other than me so it felt a little lonely!

Leetle Plane

I don't think God is the co-pilot here, but they sure do have an ethereal glow about them!

Finally Done...

Study Mountain

For those of you who heard the big sigh of relief last Friday... that was me. I retook the GMAT for business school and scored pretty well, a 750, if that means anything to you. So no more GMAT for me!

Going
Going

Going
Going

Gone
Gone!

I turned in one application yesterday and have two more to go in the next two weeks. Then all I have to do is wait! Not easy, but at least easier.

Most Important

Water Erosion
Water makes an impression over the years in South Africa.

Life has been very full, I'm trying to accomplish a fair amount in a short time. Want to help?

Of course it's easy! Have I ever asked you to do something difficult? Ok, don't answer that.

I'm writing an essay for one of my grad school applications.

What is most important to you and why.

So.... what is most important to you? (and why if you feel like it)

Oh The Places You'll Go

Dry Weather Road

I'm just peering down my road to see where it's taking me. Past the twists and turns, the ups and downs, where am I going?

I know I can't really see the true destination... but that won't stop me from trying!

Major life decisions have a way of doing that to me.

And It Keeps Going

The Small Things

So... yesterday I felt a little like I'd been training, building momentum for the last three months, intensely working and using all of that to run myself full force into a wall.

Thud.

Technically, the test went fine. It wasn't what I'd hoped for, but was probably what I should have expected realistically.

I did do better than 86% of the other people who took the test, but unfortunately I'm not competing with them to get into grad school, I'm competing with the 14% that did better.

I'm still going back an forth on what to do next. Retake it? Start looking at other, less demanding schools (although I did just fine to get into two back-up schools on my list)? Keep time and energy for applications (due in two to three months)?

About every hour feelings changes, but I'm waiting until I get back from a week of backpacking to settle on a plan.

I already know too well, life rarely turns out as planned, which is generally fine.

Oh, and my backpacking partner hurt his back so I'm not sure quite what I'm doing next week either :)

Studying and Studying and Zzzzz....

Screen from online Veritas class.

I'm studying! Really, really studying. I can find the prime factors of just about anything you can throw at me.

Yes, not really useful for life, but useful for the GMAT. And a good score on the GMAT is very useful for getting into grad school.

Study Books I have finished.

The class I won with your help has started and I have just a couple more months and a few more study books to go over to be ready!

Study books I am working on.

If I can stay awake through it all!

I Can Stop Obsessing! (about this)

Conflation of Moisture and Volcanic Gasses

Have you ever become ever so slightly obsessed with something? You have to check it over and over several times a day?

Yes, me too.

But now it's done! Phew!

Thanks to you good people, I placed second in the photo competition! And granted while I like to think my photos are fantastic, there wasn't a huge amount of traffic to this site, so it felt a whole lot more like a popularity contest.

And you like me, you really really like me!

At least 199 of you do.

And that was enough for second place! Only 30 votes from first place!

Fortunately it's not only first that counts in this race. I won almost $2,000 worth of materials to help me take the GMAT which is a mandatory exam when applying for an MBA.

AND it just happens to be almost $2,000 more than I had to spend on this sort of thing!

Thank you!
